Escape from the beaten tourist track in Prague to a historically amazing place which is within easy reach of our Hotel Kampa Garden *** in Prague 1. Vyšehrad is a natural cultural heritage site which offers several points of interest to tourists: a wonderful view of the River Vltava and Prague, the ruins of a historical citadel fortifications with the oldest rotunda in Prague dedicated to St. Martin (built in a Romanesque style) dating back to the 11th century and the Church of St. Peter and Paul (built in a Gothic style), Vyšehrad Gardens and Vyšehrad Cemetery where prominent figures are buried and which is the site of the Slavín Tomb (built in a neo-Renaissance style).
You can reach this site from our Hotel on Kampa Island in Prague 1 by taking a nice walk about 3 km along the River Vltava (approx. 45 minutes) or use the convenient public transport in Prague and take the Metro (travel to Muzeum station from Malostranská on the green line A, where you then change to red line C and travel to Vyšehrad station – the Vyšehrad site is about 300 m on foot from there) or take a tram (destination: Výtoň, from where Vyšehrad is just across the road and up a little hill). You will enjoy a cross-section of Czech history there without the tourists!
